You notice a plant has stopped growing, not in the roots, but in the leaves.
The change shows itself at the surface first.

Trimming the leaves does not bring the plant back. The real work happens elsewhere.

So you look beneath the surface, to the roots and the soil. Growth starts there. What you see above is shaped by what is happening below, and the way you see it shapes what you can grow.

Years spent in private households and hospitality revealed a pattern at the roots of service. The people who become indispensable are the ones who notice what matters, who take responsibility, who care for another person’s world as if it were their own.

Skill matters. But what shapes everything is the ability to see the human moment in front of you, and to understand what it asks of you.

Skills and knowledge are only the beginning. True education goes further. It grows people, sharpening their ability to see what is really needed in each moment. Act with confidence rooted in real understanding.

While building the course materials, I kept returning to a question: what helps someone move beyond the checklist? What deepens their judgment, and allows them to use it again and again, not just once? At its core, education is about drawing out what is best in each person.

This became the foundation for The London Butler Academy. In 2021, Erica and I started the Academy to help people thrive by serving others. We're based in Switzerland, but our focus is well-being wherever people live and work.

For individuals, we make world-class butler education accessible and affordable, while holding onto its depth and professional standards.

For organisations, we offer tailored education and consulting that help people grow and create the conditions for them to become extraordinary.

True service is alive. It moves. It adapts.

You cannot script it ahead of time. It is created in real time, shaped by the person and the moment.

So we need more than people who follow instructions.

We need thoughtful creators—people who can read what is happening and shape the right experience for the person in front of them.
